Both Longvida® and Pomella® have been certified by the Detox Project as Glyphosate Residue Free further supporting Verdure’s efforts to maintain premium quality assurance and exceed industry standards. Bhaumik Darji, Quality Assurance Manager at Verdure Sciences, was excited to share the news of the new certification with the team saying, “We are honored and excited to work with The Detox Project on this new initiative to help ensure our customers have confidence in what we are offering.”
It is helpful to understand the importance of this new certification as industry standards are on the rise. “Glyphosate is an herbicide that controls broadleaf weeds and grasses. It has been registered as a pesticide in the USA since 1974,” explains the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) website. This has commonly been associated with big name weed-control brands in the United States. Publicly, glyphosate, in combination with other ingredients, has been linked to probable carcinogenic outcomes.
“In taking every effort to ensure we offer safe and efficacious ingredient solutions,” said Kristen Marshall, Marketing Coordinator at Verdure Sciences, “it is especially exciting that we have been working to proactively promote and certify this further for our customers.”
Verdure is proud to have recently received this certificate proving that Longvida® and Pomella® not only offer full traceability but are independently certified free of glyphosate residues. Darji explained that in order to receive this certificate, the ingredient samples are tested multiple times throughout the year for glyphosate residues. He went on to explain that this is an ongoing process that will maintain the certification and ensure we consistently uphold the requirements behind what the logo represents—further solidifying the certification’s value for our customers.
The Glyphosate Residue Free Certification is now one of the fastest growing certifications in the U.S. according to Henry Rowlands, Founder of The Detox Project. “More and more people are looking out for glyphosate in their products, the number of online searches regarding glyphosate in the past 5 years has grown about 900-1000% per year. Consumers are now seeking out products that are glyphosate residue free, similar to how they would search for gluten free products.”
Verdure Sciences is proud to offer full traceability and include the Glyphosate Residue Free seal in our portfolio of quality and traceability certifications.
